Flash painted from 2002 to 2010 by a master of the form. Jason Phillips grew up on a steady diet of the classic flash painters: August Coleman, Sailor Jerry, Mike Malone, Ed Hardy, Bert Grimm, Stoney St. Clair, Percy Waters, and the more contemporary Dan Higgs. But he's equally influenced by Hokusai or Gregory Blackstock in trying to boil things down to their most simple form. Comparisons to Sailor Jerry and Angelique Houtkamp are inevitable; but Phillips is an Oakland tattoo artist making his own mark. He has been a tattooer since 1997; he almost finished school, and dabbles in hobbyist cosmology. This book contains some of Phillips's favorite sheets of flash painted from 2002 to 2010. All the highs and lows of modern existence capsulated in small palm size designs, printed on heavy weight glossy paper.
