Hidden - Unveiling Japanese Design (curated By Nendo)

Author(s): Nendo

industrial design

Published in conjunction with the eponymous exhibition presented by Japanese design studio nendo (Oki Sato) at the National Design Centre in Singapore, this catalogue of the objects on display gives a thoughtful overview of the best of contemporary design from Japan. While Japanese designs are reaching greater recognisability and appreciation internationally, many often see them through stereotypes. Japan’s design attitude, however, never ends with what is visible, but reaches further, into parts of products or crafts that are usually invisible. According to the essay by Oki Sato, it is there that the philosophy or concept underlying Japanese design can be found.
